1.Due to 'suspicious activity'
Any transaction that doesn't match your usual transaction pattern can be flagged as suspicious activity.
Example: An Unusually Large Amount
Let's say If you typically use your account for saving and only make occasional payments for airtime or rides, but then suddenly deposit ₦1,000,000 and transfer it all out within minutes, that would be considered unusual and flagged as suspicious.
2. Do you always restrict an account for any kind of suspicious activity?
No, not always. If we notice something odd, we might call or email you first to check what’s going on. If everything is fine, there’s no issue.
But sometimes, even a small red flag can be enough for us to act quickly. It’s better to temporarily restrict an account than risk someone losing money if their debit card was stolen or their transaction PIN was exposed.
What are more specific reasons an account can be blocked?
• Adding money to an account with a card too often in a short time, like six times or more in ten minutes.
• Moving money to an account from a card with details that don't match the account name.
• Adding money to an account with a card issued in a country that doesn't match the account owner's current location.
3. What do I need to do to unrestrict my account?
Simply contact us through any of our support channels.
We’ll review the situation, discuss why your account was restricted, and let you know the required information to restore access.
In rare cases, if legal authorities are involved, unrestricting the account may no longer be within our control.
